Solid gun case and safe?

Whole lotta folks that went thru the previous fire in C Springs will tell you fire rating's are pretty much worthless as a good friend has heard countless stories of useless firearms after going thru a fire that was around the Mantitu Springs area and I would also bet the Black Forrest fire victims are dealing with the same types of losses! Get a Ryder insurance policy if at all possible ! No mater who built the safe !

Good, solid advice, that.

The firemen I talk with, including my son who is a volunteer fireman, says experience with helping recover items from fires has show that advertised fire ratings on safes gives a false sense of security. Safes keep contents from burning but heat damage created inside a safe by a hot fire causes enough damage to guns and optics to render them unwanted after going through a fire. Insurance is the better option.

I can't speak to hard cases, but I like my Fort Knox safe enough that I will most likely buy another.

Kurt,

Good to see you posting again. Work must have gotten in the way.

Nah, Mike, life did. More accurately, a divorce and a developing tool addiction (that I seem to be getting a handle on).

Hey, good to see you're still in the game, Kurt.

Yeah, without a doubt. Good to see you around Kurt and there are worse things to be addicted too!

If it makes a difference to you guys,I have a American Security safe. On the back it says made in china. :(

Thanks, Charlie. I was pretty glad to put California in my rear-view mirror.
