Some things you don’t ask

So, working on a Boyd’s stock for my grandson’s first center fire and want to paint it something appealing to him. Saw a video where a guy sprayed a base coat and then put the stock in fishnet stockings and applied another color. Came out a cool snake scale camo. I asked the wife if she had any fishnet stockings, to which she replied “not since the 80’s…why”? I informed her I only needed 1. Without missing a beat she asked “are you leaving me for a one legged stripper” good laughs were had by all. My daughter dared me to go to the lingerie store and ask for a single fishnet stocking.

My son painted the stock of a Rem 700 ML I had using an onion sack laid over the stock and it produced a snake scale look. You might go with something like this and save the embarrassment of trying to get them one leg thingy's Dan.

LOL.. Great idea, Dan. I think I'm just going do the old tried and true sponge technique

I know the gunsmiths at the LGS were blasting new barrels with the plastic mesh sleeve they arrived in to get the diamond pattern on the barrel's finish...not far from what you were thinking...and no one teased them about having to source fishnet stockings...or about their new fetish for crossdressing!

Halloween shops that pop up everywhere this time of year will have something for you. But e bay would be my first stop. Someone mentioned onion sacks but oranges and other grocery offerings come in several options if you want to go shopping
