This is a remarkable story, your performance under what amounts to deadly combat laudable. As Guy, and others on this sight know, training in response to deadly force only goes so far, the rest is DNA. I'm guessing you have had little if any as you didn't mention it kicking in, Major Miner screaming at you to get in the fight kind of thing,
I never lost an officer under my command, but I had several fail the test. No one knows, until they have been tested by fire, what they will do. Training certainly helps, significantly, it is not full proof. You're instincts are those of a warrior.
