South Dakota?

I left California for good in 1968. Only went back for bitrhdays and holidays to see family and even many of those were missed because of work. I ended up in Winnemuca Nevada working for ther NWS and didn't leave until 1979 when a job transfer moved me to Tucson. Arizona is not too bad but Tucson, Phoenix and Flagstaff have become dens of the liberal animal, especially with the influx of Californians and illegals. I wouldn't mind moving to somewhere more conservative but there's just too much crap to throw away and too many health problems. Most I could probably ignore but the cancer pretty well has me tied to Tucson, probably forever.

Iā€™m in Aridzona and looking at where Iā€™ll retire to in seven years.

I need access to good endocrinology and cardiovascular specialists. Thatā€™s my biggest concern followed by cost of living, crime, and opportunities to enjoy what remains of my life. Sixty-seven is arriving faster than I expected.

I understand now what my father said long ago, ā€œI never expected to live this long.ā€

Grand Rapids MI isn't a bad place to live.

I don't have to warn you about the wind right you know all about that šŸ˜‚. We don't like it but it keeps the Californians out.
Thats how we feel about the cold in SD. Keeps out the rif raf. We get our share of wind too, but Wyo. probably gets more. 25mph is just a breeze in much of that country, so I'm told. CL

Here- this link is an excellent one hour tour of the great state. Its only narrated in the first couple minutes after that its just music and the video. Keep in mind it is 25 years old- no drone footage here. All helicopter and hot air balloon.

Yes, but unless youā€™re paying to play at Pine Hill, the pheasant hunting in SD beats us by far.
50 years ago it wasnā€™t like that, but this isnā€™t 50 years ago.

WY has crossed my mind a few times, but the dust and my Corvettes would not get along. I love it visit WY though, and Dad and I are tossing around the idea of antelope again this fall even though we're doing Africa (Namibia) in July.

SD is pretty in many locations. I could see somewhere between Wall and the WY border if you wanted SD in particular.
