Substituting CCI 250s for CCI 200?

I know, I know. Not a direct substitution for a given load. And start low and work up.

I’m just running out of Large Rifle primers, but I need to keep in practice for deer season coming in October. But for some reason, I’m feeling a little reluctant to try working up a load using magnum primers for my 270 win.

My current load is fairly mild:
.270 Win
Nos 130 grn BT.
57 grn RL22.
CCI 200
24-inch barrel (Rem 700)

I’m hoping to get back close to that load using CCI 250 primers. Would that be do’able?

Thanks!

Yes, I would expect the 250's to also work well.
cci200, and WMRP's both work well in my .270 with H4831, which has a very similar burn rate to RL22.

Welcome to the forum, Happy you have you join us.

You can use the CCI 250 Magnum primers as a substitute for the CCI 200 primers. Just remember that you will need to drop down the charge weight and work up.
There could be a difference in pressure as well as group size and point of impact.

I use GM215M primers in my 280AI. When I switched from the GM210M primer, my groups went small.

Let us know how they shoot.

JD is correct. Pressures will be higher with the 250's.
