Switching bullet type....

Some say that, if you shoot a different bullet brand right after another one, your Impact point should change dramatically.

This mainly due to different material composition in the jacket and not because of change in type.

So, let's say I am shooting a Nosler 120 gr. BT and then I switch to a different bullet (same weight and similar shape + same load) should I see a small difference in the group or rather unacceptable results?

Shrinking your brains...

I have seen a bullet change range from unacceptable to no change at all. Only you and your rifle will be able to answer this one.

I would add one additional caution:

If you change bullets, you should back down from your max load and work up again, because as you observed, the differences in construction, etc. may create a pressure spike that was not there with the previous combination.

Both posters gave excellent advise.

1. No one knows what your gun will do with the POI.

2. Always restart load development when changing any component in the load.
BTW this includes different powder lot #'s.
