put a trigger and have a model 70 style safety installed and have the extractor cut so it will load singles and go with it and don't look back - GOOD CHOICE !!

I think that's a good call... of all of my guns, the last to go would be the ones I inherited from my grandfather, so sentimental value means a lot to me. Can't get back the memories from a new rifle...

The Mauser is a keeper. As the others have suggested, get a new trigger and have a gun smith fix the feeding problem and you are set to go. Maybe save up for the Savage option down the road.
