I sometimes load my gear etc into the truck at night before going hunting in the morning. If temperature drops to 22 degrees during the night what impact will this have on my bullet performance in the morning?
I use an ammo wallet for the ammo that I'll be taking afield. The ammo wallet stays inside my coat pocket where it never gets very cold.
I don't know about the 2 ft/sec per degree mentioned above but most of my loads are worked up in the spring & summer. The temperature difference could easily be 60 degrees between then and now. Why take a chance?
Some powders, like Varget or any other Hodgon Extreme powder, isn't temperature sensitive. I tend to stick with 'em since most of my load development is in the summer.
