Test Barrel length?

Why does Nosler insist on testing loads in a 26" barrel when in the real rifle world 24" is standard? Is there a technical reason?

That's a good question. I spent yesterday going through our Reloading Guide and asking our ballistics guru and it depends on which barrel you’re talking about. On some cartridges a 26" barrel may make sense to some competition or long range shooters. On other barrels that's what we had on hand, and they shot well, so we didn't want to change anything on it. I hope this helps you make some sense of why we have 26" barrels.

Actually that does make sense. I hated the older Hodgdon manual that used a 26" test barrel for a 358 Win.
