After getting my rifle back several weeks ago, I was swamped with work and the flu, finally I was able to get out of the house after being sick for a week.
6 BR with 29 inch 1.250 straight taper , 7tw Bartlein barrel has 25 rounds down the tube. Cleaned prior and fouled with 5 rounds. Tested in .3 grain increments with a new powder I never used before, VV N140, which is known to burn cooler than Varget and H4895. Thought I'll try it to see if the theory on getting better barrel life is real with VV N140 than with Varget. I could not be any happier on the performance with N140 during the test a few weeks ago, Tested again yesterday from 29.6 to 30 grains in .2 grain increments with 105 Hybrids. All 3 loads shot a quarter inch or better, best load is with 29.9 grains at 2825 fps. I'm not seeking velocity, just accuracy. First picture from first test weeks ago in 15 mph sideways wind, and 2nd picture is yesterday's result. It should be ready for next month's 600 yard match and break it in, rifle needs over 200 rounds to speed up anyway.
Dusted off the 6.5 Creedmoor, tested with 140 grain Ballistic Tips and H4350, .015" off the lands and Fed210M. 42.0 and 42.3 grains seems to get the nod at 2805 and 2825 fps. Two groups side by side. ES of 1 and SD of 4, can't get better than that.
I'm getting clickers on those 6.5 Creed Nosler brass, 10 plus firing on them. I think multiple sizing has pushed some brass flow to the web. I'm running about a grain more powder than book max, no pressure at all. The Redding bushing full sizing die sizes a little tight with Imperial Wax lube that I have always used, I switched to lanolin and it sizes like knife through butter. I see some rubbing on the base of the brass upon extraction. I may need to seek a small base die or toss those brass and open the new box of Nosler brass that has sat on my shelf for over 4 years.
