The hunt was a while ago, but I'm writing a blog now and thought it might be of some interest:

I don't recall where you are. In Washington I could point you to a few likely spot and stalk places. Long season here, August 1 - November 15.

Idaho - I know a good outfitter that runs a several camps with baited bear sites. Can do from the base camp, drive to the trailhead, walk a short bit.

Or can do a backcountry hunt where ya ride mules in to a comfortable tent camp and hunt from there. Baiting is legal in Idaho and they produce a lot of bears, including color-phase bears.
