Last Sunday we had “The Major’s” service. In attendance were two Generals a couple of colonels and about a dozen NCOs he served with over his career as a Ranger. Any of you with access to The Sentinal will have access to Requim for a Lion. Tony’s story.
The VP of product development at Nike was also there. He told a story of how The Major, home on leave from Afgainistan, walked into his office as if he dared anyone to stop him. My sister was an upper level employee at Nike then. He had in his hand one of his combat boots and one of my sisters top end running shoes. He simply asked “ can you make these two have a baby”
As strange as it may seem Nike was all over the tactical boot idea. Essentially dropped everything and produced a first run from the Major to take back with him a few weeks later. I got second generation boots for my Swat guys. The boot continues to evolve. The Major always hoped that the design of the boot would make soldiers one step faster, a little more agile and just a little more lethal in the process.
A general who came up with the Major told of how many of the measures currently in place for training Rangers were developed and pushed through by Tony. We as a family remain immensely proud of him.
“ The hard right over the easy wrong every time” was his ethos. My sister receiving Tony’s flag.

I am once again humbled by the story of some one who lived effectively in service to others. Also thankful again for some one who served in my stead. Sorry for your loss... CL
