Just picked up my new 300WSM. Put the scope on it for some quick pictures. I don't know if you will be able to tell from the pictures, but the fluting is really smooth and straight on the barrel and very precise on the bolt. Love the color of the Bell & Carlson stock. it is floated back to the lug and pillar bedded. Will have to test some loads tomorrow if decent out. Already found out that 2.860 is going to be too long for the magazine.

Who made that for you? It really looks like a nice rifle. It will be fun to break in and see what it can do. That 300 WSM is a great cartridge. I would be curious to see how it feeds out of the magazine for you. My buddies Model 70 feeds fine, but I have heard that some rifles they have had a few problems with.

I should have sent a picture of the test target that came with the rifle. It was shot with 150 grain Remington core-lokt PSP's. The barrel has 16 rounds fired with cleaning between each and than a fouler is fired with a 3-shot group that follows. The 3-shot group was .425. If that is what it does with factory core-lokts, I should have a shooter once the right powder and seating depths are figured out with the 180AB's.

That is a fine looking setup. The initial report is very encouraging indeed. It sounds as if you have a shooter on your hands.

I tried to send you a private message but I don't know if it worked or not. I'm really new to this whole forum stuff. Not necessary to tell me the origins on that new toy. Great rifle though!!

I also see you sent me a private message a while back about my son. I appreciate your kind words. Tough pill to swallow isn't it. It's not supposed to be like that.

didn't get the pm back, but that's ok. You can respond to any private message just like one of the posts on here.

Just for everyone's info: found a rifle listed on gunbroker in a 270wsm that has the same specs as this rifle. Basic LSS rifle to start with; the bolt is lapped, trigger adjusted (where it should be), barrel/bolt fluted and barreled action is cryo'd. This is put into a Bell & Carlson Premier carbelite stock that has pillar bedding. Total weight of the rifle is 6.5 labs (the older you get, the more important that is) :) The rifle goes through a break-in with shots 18-20 being the test target (basic factory ammo). From talking to the gentleman that does this, he can do any caliber that you want, that Remington makes in a LSS.

Sweet! We need a breakdown of the setup.

When do we get the cigars for the newborn?

I get to go to Canada once in a while, you never know what kind od cigars i might have for everyone!!

Thanks for the pictures. Now I have something to dream about tonight
I'll be looking forward to hearing how it shoots.

Joel, great rifle. That looks like an excellent carrying rifle. Wow, I can't believe how good it looks in those pictures. I might need to get one of those someday! You are going to have a real hammer on your hands. Now, get that boy of yours his 270WSM! Welome to the WSM world. I don't think you will regret it at all. Scotty

Thanks Scotty -
Now comes the work on loads :) . Going to use what you told me and see what happens. Have to work my way back to this magnum world slowly. Hope the Swarovski scope works on this rifle. My favorite reticle is the German #4 and this one has a duplex. Might take my 3X9 Zeiss off the 25-06 and put it on this one if it doesn't feel right. You are right on the ring height, I could have gotten by with low bases. Plenty of space.
