What do you guys think? A good hunting rifle or not? I find its a great shooter but alittle on the heavy side.

The Sendero is a great rifle offering very good accuracy for an off the shelf factory offering. Depending on what you are hunting and your hunting style, the Sendero may/may not be too heavy.
The Sendero was made for hunting Senderos in Tex/Mex and bean fields.

Very nice sitting rifle.

Well here where I live its all Mountians .... so its going to be packed up and down steep to moderate terrian.

Depends on your age, size & physical conditioning & how you carry the weapon.

I have 2 Sendero's, 1 in 25-06AI & 1 in 300WM that has a Lam. stock. I have used these several times out west & carried them all day. They are esp. nice for some of my Deer stands here in AR, where I sit for hours. But, I did alot of hard work growing up & some ball playing & alot of weight lifting in my College days & I am not a small person. All of this can make a difference & they are too heavy for some people to carry in the mountains, only YOU can determine if the weight is acceptable to YOU.

I have seen these articles where a gun writer will tell us what the ideal rifle weight should be, what a bunch of crap! Why would the perfect rifle weight be the same for Twiggy & Hulk Hogan? If you can find a friend that has a simular weight gun, borrow it & carry it all day.

Well said nomosendero,

I have a 700VLS that weighs 12 lbs. Very steady and accurate but too heavy when used for coyotes, showshoeing 3-5 miles. Guess it builds charactor.

Had them before. Very accurate and will do all if you do not mind the weight.

7SAUM - you said it well in your first post:

"I find its a great shooter but alittle on the heavy side."

Remington's Sendero is a fine rifle, and I've done a fair amount of hunting with heavy rifles, including a 7mm mag Sendero. Many hunters are going to be put off by the weight if they do a lot of walking, or if they need a fast handling rifle. However, if you're going to be able to set up somewhere, and need to take a precision shot, it's a great factory rifle with very good accuracy potential. Mine was a fine shooter at 600 yards.

Regards, Guy

thanks guys, ya I'm in good shape and all so I'll just suck it up just found it alittle heavy compared to the rifles I owned in the past.... LOL! just wanted to hear what you all thought. cheers!

What caliber are you refering to and what are you going to be hunting?

I have had sub MOA on all my M700's including a 700LSS in 338 RUM with that long skinny barrel.

My Sendero is a 7 SAUM SF and I'll be hunting deer to Moose, but this year it'll include a Mountain Goat ...

7SAUM,

Sweet deal for sure.
The 160 gr AB would be the perfect bullet for everything.
Good luck on all your hunts this year. Hope you can post some pics.

If a goat is on the list, then you will get a workout!

My Parents gave me a 22-250 for X-mas when I was 9yrs old....Remington 700BDL Varmiter.... ya, can you say a little on the heavy side for a 9yr old....Thanks to my parents my colection grew over the years and I am still purchasing....95% of what is in my safe are varmiters.
I've packed those heavy rounds for years from WT in TX to 13+ Thousand feet here in CO for Deer and Elk.
If your comfortable with it... take it and dont look back !

Nice looking rifle 7SAUM.
Looks like a custom bolt? What scope are you using?

JD338

The Scope is a King Optic's 3x9x42mm etched rectical these scopes are made in Canada ...very nice indeed, the bolt is custom tactical sysc. handle for easy grip with gloves on . the trigger set to 1.5 LBS very nice break for it, also the action is trued (blueprinted) all the work was done a Gsmith in Alberta Canada. Just can't wait to take some Game with it, has less than 80 rounds down the pipe! LOL!

www.kingoptics.com

Check out the field test's they put the scopes through and they come with a Lifetime warenty also.
