My new to me Marlin 1895 in 45-70. She is all decked out to go pig hunting! 8)

I put a 2x7 Redfield with the accurange reticle - just about perfect for aim points at 100,150,200 and 250 yards. The rail mounted on the magazine is by Wild West Guns and mounts a light or laser perfectly.
Thump City!

Great looking rig. Here, piggy, piggy, piggy! That should up your BSA somewhat.

Nice!!!

That is just a fun gun that is a joy to carry.
Maybe put a big loop lever on it and you will have the perfect thumper.

Thanks guys!
257 - What I've got loaded right now is the Hornaday 300gr Fp over 50gr of IMR4198. I'll use this load for sight in and to get a feel for the gun. It's been 20 years since I've used a lever gun. I've got two boxes of 300gr Sierras and a box of Speer 350gr HOT-CORS. I also have some nickel cases that are calling for the 300gr C/T's. I still need to do formal load work for this thumper.
I just finished stocking and bedding my .257AI it came out really well - I'll try to post a pict of it tonight.

Scott,

The 300 gr BST shoots very well with 59.0 grs H322 from my 1895 Guide gun. MV is 2050 fos and .400" accuracy.

JD,
Have you ever tried H335 in your Marlin? I've got an eight pounder sitting on my shelf.

Scott, H335 is a classic powder for the 45-70. There are tons of loads around for it. I have not used it. I have ran IMR4198, H4198 and RL7. Thus far, have been excellent. If I had that much H335, I would make use of it. It fits well in the 45-70 for just about all the bullets. You are lucky to have such a hammer! Scotty

Nice 1895! I really like the stuff that Wild West Guns makes for the Marlins. Guess I will have to call them and order a light rail for mine.

And so it begins!

Now that is a sexy weapon!

Are you guys including rimfires and/or muzzle loaders in your BSA?

Nope! Can't count muzzle loaders and rimfires would jinx all of us. Only centre fire rifles count. I do believe we make up the rules as we go, however.

I'm not. But then I have no smoke poles and a fair number of RFs.
