ok so the last few times I have reloaded for my 270 WSM its been real hard to lock down the bolt. I use the same dies I always have and had no problems with loaded cases fitting before, I full length resize, trimmed the cases, if I load an empty case in it is easy to close the bolt with resized cases or fired ones. These cases have only been loaded 3 to 4 times, what could be the problem? Oh and my rifle is a ruger M77 II.

You need to "bump" the shoulder on the case by doing a full length resize
of the case in the sizer die. Adjust your die making sure the case and the shell holder are in full contact.
The other possibility could be that you may have already done this and actually bulged the case at the shoulder, making for difficult chambering.

If I read your post correctly - empty fired cases chamber fine but reloaded (previously) fired cases don't - correct?

The few times I've seen this it was caused by the expander button which was pulling the neck/shoulders forward when being dragged through a tight and/or dirty neck.

Try another fired case and clean the inside of the neck good and then lightly lube the inside of the neck so the expander ball pulls through easily. Then try chambering the empty case. If it chambers OK then reload the case and check it again.

I'm guessing that the problem will be gone.

..................It`s possible that your die became out of adjustment. I also had the same identical problem with my 300 WSM, M77 Ruger Frontier!

I solved it by doing this....Once the die and shellholder make contact, screw the die down another 1/8th to 1/4 turn. Sounds to me like the case shoulder is not being sized down enough explaining the difficulty with the bolt closing. I use RCBS dies.

If that doesn`t work, then you may have a problem with the die or have possibly a tight chamber.

Make sure that your die is in adjustment first before doing anything else.

ok i will make sure the sizing die is all the way down and see if that fixes it, thanks guys.

All the tricks I know have been mentioned above. Your problrm vexes me so please let us know the results of your efforts.
