I am reloading for my 223, and have come acrossed some of the worst brass that could possibly be out there. Since my brother shoots a 223 as well he has been giving me his once fired brass  , Some of the brass is remington, it has a red seal around the primer and you can't reprime the brass without enlarging the primer pocket. Has any one else come across this kind of brass???

i think you have to have a special die to resize that kind of brass. Im pretty sure it is a military thing with cementing the primers in or whatever u call that stuff they put on the primer. I had that trouble to so i found some brass without the red and they work perfect now.

It is not surplus brass, If I remember correctly it is Federal value pack ammo. But like you said everything else works great.

Try RP primers. I find them just a bit smaller in dia. than others & use them for brass w/ tight primer pockets.
