Times are a-changin'

The 275 H&H would certainly be a conversation starter. It worked well in years past, and I don't know that animals have grown any tougher.

.287 Bullets??? Where do you get those?

Woodleigh
DKT
Hawk

Admittedly, not common suppliers in North America, but available, nonetheless.

I totally saw that coming! Now if Winchester would just chamber these in an Extreme Weather or (even better) a Featherweight, I'd be looking to sell a kidney...
Me too!!  :p :p I think I am really sick with RADD, or I'm way to predictable!

And, what is the going rate for a kidney, Kurt? That would be quite a shock were Winchester to do such a thing. If the price is right, I might be tempted to sell some organ and buy a featherweight so chambered.

I figure my kidneys are pretty safe, Mike.

Charlie, we get the Ross bullets from Woodleigh now. Having the Ross, makes the H & H build just a whim on our part, as we thought it would be fun to have the 275, 300 and 375 and we have the 300 and 375 now. No big deal, i just thought it might be something different Kodiak might want to consider

Alaska100,
our options are still open, 'cept I wanted to drop down on the recoil. Kinda looking at .243/6mm on the low end, maybe in a lever. And 6.5/.270 on the upper end.

If I thought I needed a larger caliber rifle, I would get something I've not had before ... a .35 Whelen.

Dr. says I can get out on Sat., so ........

Kodiak, most important is I hope you are on the mend and are well real soon

I have not read the entire thread so someone may have already mentioned this to you. The 6.5 Swede is a sweet caliber. My mother, daughter and wife all use it regularly. My daughter has grown very attached to it and uses it for wolves, deer and caribou. It has the low recoil you are looking for and is in the range of calibers you are thinking about. And for me, it os one of the old classics, which always intrigues me. Best of luck with your health and rifle search

That would be a pretty fascinating collection!
