Just to be clear, a fluted barrel will not be just as stiff as an unfluted barrel. You have taken material away, and thus stiffness. It will be more stiff than an unfluted barrel of the same length and weight, but you can't remove material and retain stiffness. This would be like saying a solid 2" diameter rod is the same stiffness as a 2" diameter tube with a 1.5" inside diameter...I think we can all agree that the solid bar would be stiffer.
Also, I was told by the guys at Volquartsen that their Snake Fluting was their most accurate barrel. A rimfire might be a different beast though.
