how do I decide what rifle to hunt with this year arghh

I have two virgins and 2 others.

First off we got the local california season opening 2 weeks from tomarrow I think I am gunna take the new 257 wby to try and bloody it but my 700 classic in 25.06 will get duty after blood as it is just perfect for local detail.

then the week after that I head to nevada for my mule deer hunt. I have to finish dialing in the 257 bee still and still cant decide between the 100 gr ttsx or the 110 ab the ttsx shoots a little better but I am foreign to this whole unleaded thing and dont want to mess up a good thing. But I also have a virgin 300 rum that is shooting 180 gr btips really well at 3350 then there is the nostalgic 7mag a classic mule deer round.

I bought the wby to be my all around go anywhere do anything rifle but man I got itches to scratch which would you take? I am probably taking the 257 and the rum to nevada as I always take a back up and in case it gets really windy I can pull out the RUm.

Every rifle deserves to be blooded. Plan to hunt with an unblooded rifle, holding an "ol' faithful" in reserve. Have a good hunt and remember to post pictures.

WOW ! This sounds way to familiar with pretty much the exact same rounds.......
My .257Bee is un-bloodied as well & I'm really itching to take it - HOWEVER I do know where I'll be, the conditions will be horrible & the .300RUM Sendero will only laugh and say bring it on !

Good luck on your decision - that time is coming quickly.

FWIW - I've pretty much settled on the 110 AccuBond out of my .257 - There is no doubt in my mind what they are capable of

Since you bought the wby. for your go-to gun, I'd go-to it and get it bloody. I'd use the 110 AB's for and all around go-to bullet. Keep the RUM handy as a back up.
Years ago I had a pretty 257 Lazermark, I let my wife carry it and she slipped and fell on it, breaking the stock. Always carry a back up.

Any of them will work fine for your mule deer hunts. I'd pick ONE right now, and shoot nothing but that rifle until after the hunt. Put the others out of your mind, don't worry about them. One rifle, well-sighted in, that you're thoroughly familiar with. That's the one to hunt with.

Good idea to drag along an old faithful rifle for fallback, just in case something happens to your first choice though.

Start with the 257 Wby with 110 gr AB's and don't look back!
ONce you fill a tag, then look at the others.

Yup, the 257 sounds like it is dire need to get out and show you its stuff. Probably a great idea to have the 300RUM just in case you get into a tight spot. Scotty
