Anyone try it yet in a big game rifle? I picked some up yesterday so I can make up some low recoil loads for my wife to shoot my 35 Whelen. Have a bunch of Hornady 200 gr Spire points which I could use.
Pretty neat way to find how much to load in a round.

When I showed her powder for these loads she said "you used to bring me flowers but now you are bringing me gun powder" :) I let her know that not all women are as lucky as her to have such a thoughtful husband, I'm sure you would all agree  Those who shoot together stay together (maybe that was pray? :) )

I have been using those trail boss loads for my sons 308. Recoils like a 22 mag and lots of trigger time to get him ready for the upcomming big game season. We got a couple caribou tags to fill and I'm hoping to get him in on one. Also using his 308 for my nephew. Lucky little SOB drew a bison, caribou, and cow moose tag this year!!!!

I hope it all works out for you guys as well, make sure you take pics of these young guys hunts for us to see. I would say your nephew is especially lucky to get 3 good tags :)
That is what I was hoping to hear about the Trail Boss loads, my wife has shot a lightweight 260 Rem and had no trouble with the recoil even with full power 160 gr loads, this will turn out great for her to be able to use the 35 Whelen for practice.

G'Day Fella's,

Gerry, I have only used the IMR method on a 7.62 x 39 cartridge, and it works just fine.
But I have explained the same method to a number of customers and mates, for their larger hunting cartridges with no complaints!

Hope that helps

Fotis,

Trail Boss should shine in the 7mm-08.

I've tried it in quite a few calibers and it really is fun. I do recommend if possible light for caliber bullets as they seem a little more consistant in the speed dept. Ie 110 and 125's in 308 casings.
Kinda anxious to put it to work in my contender 3030 barrel....figure I can neck size over and over again w/a 308win lee collect die.

Thanks for the info so far, can't believe I never knew about Trail Boss before. Only 9 oz in the can but it is full to the top though :) neat looking stuff. Fotis that sounds perfect for Anna to get lots of range time behind her 7mm-08 and be all practiced up for antelope season :) Looking forward to actually doing some shooting this week.

Thank you guys, this should work with my grandson who really doesn't like recoil.
I am going to try this as soon as the snow leaves that should be July

Blessings,
Dan

Pretty cool video.
Looks like Trail Boss would be a lot of fun to play with.

If you go to the 100 yr range with those trailboss loads be prepared to spin your scope up about 6 moa ....in my 3030 its about 13 moa....still fun to play with!

Sounds like a Ruger #1 458 lott I had!

Huge diff between 300 and 500 gr loads. Sometimes 2 feet!
