WT, hope your having fun getting in some good practice shooting. I know it pays to practice this time of year and sometimes the weather can make that difficult. Here is my $.02... I like to take 3 rifles to the range when I go. I fire one shot from each rifle at its designated target then I lean the rifle UP against the bench with the action open. Then I walk down range and mark each hole in the target with a number so I know which hole was made first second and so on. Then I walk back to the bench and grab the first rifle and repeat the process. This may take more time at the range but it really helps give the barrels time to cool between shots. Leaning your gun up will help the hot air rise out of the barrel and draw cool air in the bottom much like a chimney. Shade is a good idea but not when you cover up the gun, that is too much like putting a blanket on yourself when you are hot. I am also a firm believer in a shooting rest, be it a Lead Sled or some other type. If you are shooting for little groups you have to have a STEADY rest. Good luck with your loads and I hope you enjoy your time at the range
