Well, I took my 11-87 out to the range today, to verify my red dot site was still on target and also for my son to shoot his 20 gauge turkey gun.
I didn't use the Mag Blend shells to verify (I am too cheap), I used some of last years Remington #6 Hevi Shot 3.5" Mags. They have always been my stand by and seem to slump birds pretty quick. Here is a target I stuck up at 40 yards. Once I saw the pattern, I put mine away.
After my boy verified his 20 gauge at 30 yards and we decided he put about 25-35 pellets in a softball sized circle with Remington 3" 5's, I figured we were good with a bird out to 30 yards with his shotgun.
Then we pulled out the 22's and he just started banging away. Then I remembered my Kimber with the 22LR conversion on it. He was killing everything with it out to 25 yards. Very proud of him.
Testing out his turkey killer!
