Nice rifles...Maybe Brian can take one of those as a back-up to the Sendero if he finds 300 RUM is too light to carry around :p .

The 300RUM is by no means lightweight but not that heavy! I would take that 338RUM in a heartbeat.

I think I will see if I can coax Brian to carry that new 7WSM around a little. If I can't get it bloody this year, maybe he will smoke something with it! Scotty

Oh yeah the 338 ultra has 450 rounds through it rem 700 action single shot. McMillan A4 shilen. Select match 27" barrel 20 moa rail and brake. If you interested I would part with it for 1200 with the brass and dies. Sans nightforce of course.PS you want me to ship it so you can fire it first will do you cover shipping.

Gladly take it to the range and work with it. Don't know if I will have time to get it bloody. The 300RUM is getting Elk blood and the 45-70 gotta get blood of some sort on it. I see lots of Whitetail does with 45 Cal holes in them this coming season.

What is the total weight of the rifle?

Not really sure I am thinking its around 14 pounds. It sits in an eberlystock when mobile. Its not something your going to sling over your shoulder and go after elk without a pack. It is great for setting up on a hill and shooting antelope at distance though. I did manage to shoot an antelope at 940 with this rig 4 years ago. Confirmed and signed by two people. Hope your not thinking it was a held over about 2 feet and let fly story. I still have about 40 250 hornadys loaded and about 30 300gr burgers for it as well. Just moving on to a lapua I think. I love the 338 ultra its just I hate the brass that remington demands a buck a piece for. I think a 30-338 ultra would be awesome if norma or lapua produced brass. "Hint" nosler would work also!

940 yards is pretty good shooting for speed goats  The rigs speak for themselves at what they can do. Just range and dial with the Nightforce. Trying to save my pennies for one but other people keep putting other ideas in my head :p

yeah kind of but there are a couple of nasty variable to address as well windage being the most difficult and the least predictable. And angle of shot is bit dodgy as well without an indicator. I'm not sure what your looking at as far as scopes but I like the four nightforces I have. Am debating about commiting financial suicide and getting a schmidt bender pmII. I had the chance to use one and well you can figure out the rest.

This is the only S&B I have ever shot through, but holy damn, it was the best set of glass I have ever seen and stronger than all heck. Scotty

The one thing that still kicks my @#$ is the wind. We have nothing here compared to out west but it still no walk in the park. Looking at the 3.5-15 or the 5.5-22 Nightforce.

McMillan A4

Always wanted to get a better look at an A4 than what McMillan shows on their website. Thinking my next HB varmint rifle is going to have an A5 (or maybe an A3, not an A3 Sporter like the last).

I think you would like the A3 or A2 in the role of a varmint rig. I like them all. The reason I built on an A3 sporter is the comb is a bit higher than the HTG-M40 stock on my 30-338. It will put your cheek weld and your eye in position on the picatinny rail larger scope scenario. But you can get an adjustable HTG which I probably should have done but the stock pack works well. I really like the HTG configuration for a hunting rifle. You may want to get an A3 sporter in your hands also before ruling it out.

That was one awesome rifle. I tell ya, after shooting it, I immediately jumped on to see what they cost and really, for the amount of rifle you get, they aren't out of this world, like 4500 or so, but man, it was one sweet rifle. I had never fired a Blaser rifle till them and wow, what a slick set up. That scope, well, it is probably as much as the rifle I think. Never had enough courage to look it up! Scotty

Retail is right at 3200 for a 5-25x56 pm2 you can pick up used ones on the hide from 2600 plus. If you have to have the horus reticle you can blow another 5-800 bucks. Doesn't that blaser have a floating bolthead on it?

Woodycreek":3sr50g9g said:
Is that Blazer the straight pull type of bolt action?

Yeap, it is a straight pull bolt. Very fast and smooth. Really a nice piece of work.

Jeff, not sure about the floating bolt head. The whole bolt carrier group rides on a set of rails and man, it locks up tight and smooth. I don't know enough about the Blasers to speak smart about them.

Those S&B's are some really nice optics. Best I have ever looked through. The Horus system is pretty neat as well. They were on all of our sniper rifles to include the 338L and 408C's. Scotty
