Just a quick post, yesterday 6 November, my daughter Dylann and me went and did a little muzzloader hunting. We grabbed up a bunch of Halloween candy, so extra layers of clothes and went at it. I had the blind set up in a nice place, and Dylann had a good time, eating candy and spotting squirrels with me.

Anyhow, here are a couple of pictures.

I used my old TC ThunderHawk 50 caliber with two Pyrodex pellets and a 295 HP Powerbelt. Not a super bullet, as it didn't pass through on about a 55 yard shot. Found a couple chunks of the bullet, but not too much else. It did break the offside shoulder, but as you know, our VA deer aren't exactly big..

I also spotted a large beaver. Dylann thought it was a bigfoot?

Overall, Dylann had a GREAT time. She digs hunting out of the blind. Hopefully we can get out a little more in the Fall.

I don't remember ever learning to gnaw trees when I was at Quantico! And that is some squirrel you dropped there, Scotty! Man, that sounds like a great day with your daughter. Congratulations on a fine doe.

HA! Yeah, it is great to get out there with family. Hoping Lori can get out shortly. The new land to hunt on seems real nice, so hopefully we can fill the freezers up this Fall. Shouldn't be too hard, there seems to be plenty of deer.

Great pictures Scotty !
Congrats on a successful day with your daughter and thanks for sharing.

You sure that's not a beaver/sasquatch hybrid?

Scotty

Good deal. Glad you spent time with your daughter and scored on a doe.
Big foot beaver. :)

Very, very nice Scotty! ..Congrats to you, and your lovely daughter pal 8) ..Lou

Congrats. Glad Dylann had fun hunting and got to see brown on the ground. Not a beaver or Bigfoot! Just the Spider Monkey attacking tree!

If that's the spider monkey attacking a tree, then what did he get the tree to buy????

Sounds like you guys had a great day Scotty! Nice shooting by the way. Looks like that bullet placement was perfect. You going to make any sausage or anything out of some of her?

Looks like a super day. Good to see you shaking the dust off the smokepole. Getting out with your girl makes it even better. I must admit, that is one scary-looking rodent.

Legends of bigfoot are real!! Who needs a knife when you can chew through wood like that! Great to see you got out with Dylann! She will make a great hunting partner for you through the years if you can keep her focused.

Nah, we just cut it up as steaks and such. I split my deer with my hunting partner. We split fuel costs and such, so splitting the meat keeps us both stocked up. Should be plenty more this year though. I have the next 4 days off for the Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Day.

I love to hunt with the young kids. Nothing better than that. I hope it sticks.
