A friend of mine picked up a wood stock series 2 in 257 WBY thought you guy's would be interested in range results . Shot it with factory ammo 80gr. TTSX shot 2.5" @ 240 yards . Had some factory 115 TTSX's too those shot terrible . Took them home put them on a run out Gauge they were running out .005 - .012 for $99.00 I'm not impressed. I straightened them on a truangle tool , if you don't have one of these you need to get one . Haven't shot the 115's since the brass is horrible going to pick up some Nosler brass for him. With the empty brass I loaded up 2 test loads with 100 TTSX neither showed any sign of pressure .One shot 1.625 @ 240 the other went 1.875 @ 240. Both well under the .99" guarantee . Then I loaded up a max load of RL22 it shot 1.032 @ 240 I would say we're done . To me the amazing part was if you superimpose the bullseye's over each other the shots from the test loads and the max load , 9 shots shots total , measure under 2.5" @ 240 yards. We're leaving monday for a Alabama whitetail hunt those buck's should be trembling I'm thinking there going to feel the sting of the bee. Here's a photo of the group . Got to go pack good hunt KH.

khh,

Looks like you found a great load pretty darn quick, way to go.
Good luck on your hunt.

I'll say you hit the jackpot. Great cartridge, and you have fine accuracy.

Great shooting. Looks like the Vanguard S2's are making a great name for themselves! I like quick load work, makes shooting the rifle fun!

Great rifle & awesome cartridge. Sounds like you got a shooter! Can't wait to see pics of your buck... guaranteed to fold up under that kind of force!

When you get back, try out RL22 & 100 gr ETips working from 67 gr up into the low-70s. You might be pretty surprised... extraordinarily accurate in my rifle, and better BC than the Barnes, though I doubt the deer will be able to tell the difference...

No too shabby. A little work you can tighten that up, although for hunting it is fine!

This level of accuracy is not a surprise as the S2 Vanguards are quite accurate. Add to that you aren't paying a lot (compared to what other rifles can cost) and they'll likely take a wide range of bullet weights and still give you very good accuracy.

Handloads will be better than the factory stuff. Max COL but still able to fit in the magazine works perfect with my S2 .257 Wby using the 100, 110, and 120gn bullets, regardless of the maker.....I may have an odd rifle, but I'm sure glad I have it.

A quarter is 0.955 inches diameter. Looks like they met the MOA claim for three shots on the money.
