I do not have a chrono, YET. I am going to load some 140 accubonds with 64 grains of RL 22 for my 7mag with 26 inch barrel. Any guesses on my velocity. I'm hoping for at least 3100fps

Any guesses on my velocity

I`d guess 100 fps less then then book reports. Am I close? :)

There is no accurate way to tell with out a chrono. Figure+/- 35 fps off for every inch your barrel varies from the test tube. I normally find I also lose about 50-100 fps from the book due to a larger chamber and bore then the test platform. Remember this a guess, nothing more.

I know I need a chrono. I am going to get one soon. The nosler book says 63.5 grains of 22 with a 140 grain bullet gets 3160. I figure another .5 grains puts me close to 3200, plus another 70fps for the 26" tube and that gets me around 3270fps. take out 100fps for the chamber and I'll see how close I am to 3170fps next week.

My guess is 3050-3100 fps but this is only a guess. Let us know what she shoots when you get a chronograph.

That should be a pretty mild load. I was running more Reloader 22 with a 160 grain bullet. That load was accurate and fast!

Swamp...........According to my Sierra manual, with a 26" test barrel, a 140 gr. Sierra Gameking spitzer BT using 63 gr. of RL22 shows a velocity of 3100 fps. Using 66 gr. it shows 3200 fps........If your using 64 gr., it would be safe to say that you should be at 3100 fps. at the very least...........But! For your individual rifle, only your chrono will know for sure!!!................

Hey Swamp,my one book ,one caliber manual shows for the RL22,65.5 grains at 3250 FPS and a max of 67.5 grains at 3340 FPS. Good luck with a chrono.
I'm loading some 140 grain CT ballistic silver tips with IMR 4350 and 61 grains to shoot 3132 FPS for my 7Mag.

Noslers Rock!
