I finally got a little time to shoot the new 300 Kong...
The one scope I've settled on is not in stock at present so I slapped on a 2.5x10 Bausch and Lomb I had lying around and off I went.

The rifle itself shoots as well as it appears to be made. Simply excellent.
The Accumark just feels perfect from getting it on aim through the shot and very ending recoil.
The trigger, still set from factory and is adjustable, has a nice feel and break over to it.

I was trying to get some brass for the Kong accumulated to load my own...

Here's three (or four) shots with Weatherby factory loaded 165 gr BST.

The hole looks weird because it was raining like a monsoon and that hole got distorted when I removed it from the backer. A lot of that paper was sticking to the rubber mat backer.

It's definitely not new or newish ammo. 😯😯😯😯🤣🤣🤣🤣

The last time I seen factory ammo shoot that well was with Remington Corelokt RN (lol) out of a Mohawk 600 in 308

That’s a rocket ship. Congrats on the Kong.
I just noticed your signature..

"Actually, there are only two classes of people posting here: Model 70 owners and those who wish they had one. PATENT PENDING"

I used to think and say the same exact thing but I am super pissed at Winchester today.

The venerable Model 70 which I thought was the greatest bolt action made (pre 64 CRF/claw extractor gun with floor plate of course) is no longer made in
the United States of America
major shame!!

I built a 30-378 Imp with a 30" barrel years ago. It shot 150 Ballistic Tip over 4000fps, 165's 3900fps, 185's over 3600 and 210's over 3400 with WC872 ball powder. Mine was a caliber length neck, 35 degree shoulder, and minimum taper.

nice...

we will see where this takes me on the chronograph out of curiosity.

Accuracy is king and will win the day as I am aiming to do mostly long shooting with this thing but it will be fun to see how fast this I can safely get this thing going.

I love shooting a respectable group at 1000 yards with factory equipment and sporter type weight up against some behemoths that you'd never take afield and reloading scales and rests that cost as much as new pickup truck in 1979 :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Nice work. My 30-378 MK V KCR shoots well also!

Can you please shoot a coyote with that 165 ballistic tip. I am fairly certain you wouldn’t have much to skin out.

They're becoming a real problem around here. My Doberman ran one off a couple weeks ago. It's howl city after midnight.

We did tons of rockchuck dispatching in the 90's with about anything you can imagine including 375 H&H, 416 Rum, and 460 Weatherby. The problem is the bullets from the big bores are too tough, without modifying, to get explosive performance like a varmint bullet. We shot tons with .30 cal 150gr Ballistic Tips at 3500-3650fps in 30-8mm mags, 308 Baer's, 30-358STA's (Basically all 300 H&H Imp cases). The old original Ballistic Tips were quite explosive compared to the new version that is quite a bit tougher. There were a few coyotes torn nearly in half with those same rifles as well as a few with 7STW's and 140gr Ballistic Tips. The 130gr Sierra single shot pistol bullets driven from a STW at 3700fps does some magical stuff to things too.
