Good evening. New here, been loading and browsing for sometime. I tend to not deviate much from the loading manuals. Picked up some VV N140 and I wanted to see if anyone has had any luck with this powder in .270 win with 150gr Partitions. I see data in the Nosler Manual for N165. It is claimed on their site that it is similar to IMR4320, just wondering how true this is. Thanks in advance for any input.

Welcome, I am fairly new here myself-lots of looking not much posting. I use N160 in my Browning 270 win. with 130 partitions. It's unbelievably accurate in my rifle, less then .3" at 100 yards. I do have a Vihtavuori Book and do not see N140 listed for use in the 270, it may be a little to fast burning for the 270 win. with 150 gr bullets. N150,N160 &N165 are listed wth the 100 gr Speer, otherwise N160, N165 and N560 are recommended with the 130-160 gr bullets.

I thought maybe it would be a little fast as well, however it is situated slightly slower than IMR4320 and slightly faster than H380 which are both suitable for the 130gr partitions, which I am a fan of as well. I believe I am going to try a load 20% lower than the IMR 4320 minimum through the chronograph and see what I get for speeds, as well as check for pressure signs. I think it will be a good starting point anyway.
