You know - it's true. Outdoorsmen, hunters and anglers, eat the best of the best.

After the news reports of antibiotic resistant bacteria in 70% of pork today, and other reports of nastiness in beef & chicken... Gentlemen (and huntresses) we eat well, really well.

Tonight I quick seared some mule deer backstrap steaks, along with peppers and onions and cooked some wild rice.

Dang... The freezer is full of venison & salmon... Awesome.

This is good.

We add to the appreciation of what we are eating with the knowledge that we worked to bring it home. We know where those packages of meat come from.

It sure means a lot more when we work hard to put that wild game on the table and we know how well we take care of it because it really is special! Nice job on the deer tonight Guy.

You aren't kidding David. It is GREAT to be able to just make spaghetti with ground venison. I love wild game..

Elk steak for lunch today and moose meatloaf tonight. Indeed, we eat like kings.

Yes we truly do  my Son came over last night & made himself a hot venison sandwich:)
As he was eating it he stated why would anyone want to eat store bought meat:)
We are really blessed to live where we do
We are starting to fish this coming Saturday so soon it will be feeds of Perch & Walleye as well :mrgreen.

Blessings,
Dan

Guy your opening statment is so true, and a big reason why the immune systems of young kids these days are very topsy tervy. We have made a concerted effort in our house to grow most of our own veggies and such from the garden. And I have some customers that I get pigs and chickens from that are fed only rolled grain from there own fields. The deer and moose are always on the menu around here as well.

Had some Elk Chili on top of a bed of tortilla chips which I added some fresh roasted green chili from Hatch NM :) nice neighbor sent this home with my wife for me and I guess I owe them big time! 2 of their kids are fixin to leave for the Philippines to help out in an orphanage on their own dime! Having a small gathering for them as they will be gone 6 months and my wife prepared Lumpia and Biko! Which will help their transition to real Pinoy food!!

Man, lumpia! It's been several years since we made lumpia. I love it dipped in bagoong. And biko! Oh, yeah, that'll do most anytime. We have a growing number of Filipino workers in the area. I should make some soon.

You guys are making me jealous. The only wild game that could fill my freezer lately would be coyote...

I'm not quite ready for that kind of chili yet!

Mike you dipping Lumpia in Bagoong is hard for me to wrap my head around just do not tell me you eat dried fish or Balut  My Vacation back in 2012 I almost starved if it was not for 6 Lechon Pigs in 3.5 weeks and all the Fiestas we attended  I run every time my wife gets near as she smells like the bottom end of a 99% empty Kimchee pot  she uses Bagoong like we use
ketchup? No preservatives in this pig and no icebox as it is inhaled not needing any refrigeration

YUM, YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of the above sure beats the tar out of eatin' a Big Mac burger

And, yes, kimchi and balut is fine dining fare. I list it right up there with adobo and pancit. We used to always keep patis around for cooking. The bagoong was usually bagoong monamon. One of my most memorable Thanksgiving meals was marked by dipping roast turkey in bagoong monamon and eating kimchi on the side.

I really need to stop reading this food section before I go to bed.

Now I'm going to be hungry all night. :)

Well it is a good thing that I saw that pig roasting before I have supper tonight. Because around 10:00pm is my tempt time and seeing that would have likely thrown me over the edge .
I sure won't mind chowing down on that once before I gone :)

Thanks for sharing!!

Blessings,
Dan
