Lou,

Looks real nice. I like the fast 338's. They shoot flat and hit hard, really hard.

It's a killer Lou. That 340 is bad!!!

Scotty, Jim, If I get it, it's gonna have a break installed, should be a long range hammer!

Mine doesn't have a brake and its a 50mm VX3 4.5x14LR
1750 is a no brainer . Ask anyone that has one and they will
tell you the same...Its a great caliber and rifle.

Go For it.

Man, that thing is GORGEOUS!

Count me in  (y)

Going on Saturday to check it out, the owner (Jerry) said it was in mint (as new)..if so, it well follow me home

Going to try it un-braked first, my 375 H&H is very comfortable to shoot, when I had the 300 Wby, it wasn't a problem at all of the bench,
Lou

Ask Fotis...Its a pussycat on the bench.
Wear a mouthguard.... I can send photos
of my chipped teeth. I have .340 time.
Seriously its the best caliber I have. Skid

I also have load data that has worked well for me
as do others..Now that 250 Accubonds are available
I have seen the light.

Yes, those well work great!..Forgot to mention, 2 boxes of Weatherby ammo is included too :) ..I believe it's the 225gr Barnes tsx. Going to reload after I crank them off

Yeah, you should really dig that monster Lou. Not much a good 225 or 250 at around 3K won't hammer..

I have the same setup that was new in 1998. I've got the 56mm version scope on mine. I love that rifle and will never part with it. It came with a muzzle brake but I've never used it. My son has the same rifle in 300 weatherby and he used the muzzle brake once. I think his ears are still hurting.
Buy it, Buy it, Buy it. (y)

If I can shoot the 378 Bee all day with no M/B then you can shoot this baby. I shoot my MK V 340 no problem

Shouldn't be a problem Fotis, My 375 H&H is a pussy cat to shoot, the 416 Rigby is also no problem, I foresee no problems or chipped teeth, being gifted with broad shoulders and big paws (y)

Thanks bro!

Lou,

My 338 RUM is pushing the 250 gr AB at 3000 fps. Recoil isn't too bad off the bench but in the field, you will never notice it. I put a brake on my 338 RUM when I started shooting the 300 gr AB's at 2700 fps. I have since gone back to the 250 gr AB and recoil with the brake is nothing.

When shooting with my buddy at 800 yds, there is a big difference in the ring of the gong between his 30-378 Wby with a 175 gr MK and my 338 RUM with the 250 gr AB. I also hear the bullet hit game at distances out past 300 yds and it is pretty distinctive. It really puts the smack on them. The 340 Wby will be very similar.
