Weatherby rifle?

I know that weatherby rifles have the reputation for having a long freebore. Is this rule also the case for non weatherby cartridges chambered in a weatherby rifle? The rifle in question is a Mark V chambered in 280 Remington.

Nope. Non-Weatherby cartridges use standard freebore.

Mark V in 280 - I'm jealous.

I am man enough to admit that I sold a 280 Remington chambered in a Model 70 Featherweight. As a result, I was able to upgrade to a Mark V ultralight also chambered in a 280Remington!

That Ultralight in a 280 Rem would be an incredible rifle for any adventure. Hard to beat a 280 and you have some pretty good loads for yours.

Here's my baby. 280 Rem. I have owned this rifle for 12 years. I have many big game rifles but this one goes hunting every year. 160 partitions for everything. Last year I took an Antelope, Nice mule deer buck and a cow elk. I rarely spend the time for all three in one year. My freezer is really full! Some day I will build a 280 Ackley.
