Hey fellas sorry I have been gone so much lately. My laptop has crashed and I've been busy with work and such. So I figured I owed you all a couple of pictures at very least! My friend in the pictures with me is Matt, an ex-Marine who used to work with me but has since found a better job. Hooray for him.

As you can see from the golf-ball, he too has taken a liking to my 300 WSM, he nailed that with his first try from about 70 yards. My 300 WSM by itself next to a brain-matter like substance scattered all over the snow is to thank for the 300 yard shot I made on the once integral but now vaporized jar of spaghetti sauce. And the third of us together with our 30-06s. Me with "Old Reliable" or "Kawliga" as it's sometimes called (depending on which side of the family is telling the stories at the time) and Matt with his Sporterized Enfield which he reverently calls "Chesty." While my Model 70 is definately the better gun 8) (don't tell him I said that) his Remington 1917 shoots well; and will better yet once we get it drilled and tapped and mounted up with a good scope.

Matt has never been deer hunting as well as another mutual friend we have named Ken. I get the privilege of taking them both this fall providing the State actually issues some @#$#$%%^&&##$ tags this year to someone besides tree-huggers who only put in for them so I can't get them.

Enjoy the pictures fellas....should be more to follow soon.

Great pictures. Too bad about the laptop. I spent the morning yesterday reconfiguring our wireless setup. Computers! Can't say enough bad things about them. They are a wonderful convenience, but they do suck us in only to make life miserable.

It is great that you are getting more people into the sport. For a number of years here in Saskatchewan the hunting population has shrunk, But I believe it starting to pick up again having noticed in the last month at the range too as the gun law has been scrapped here

Blessings,
Dan

Looks like a good time, Dale! I'm hoping I can get over the hill for a weekend after I get hitched; if so, we will have to go burn some gunpowder. I'll shoot you a PM if I make it.

oh hey Kurt, congrats! For sure we will. I have most of my favorite rifles over here in Bend but the rest are over at my Dads place in Eastern Oregon, including all of my Savage 99's. But I am sure we will have a blast with whatever we do end up getting to do.

Thanks for the "atta-boys" too guys. I figure most of the reasons people hate guns and hunting is because of ignorance or misinformation. I do what I can to change that. I know you fellas do the same. Its going to be up to us you know as well as I, to make sure this country and our way of life survives.

I think I will go out shooting again this afternoon or evening.

I'm certain Matt has shot a few rifle, being a Marine. He did nail that golf ball! The spaghetti sauce didn't fare so well either.

For sure Doc, he has. I just have to break his AR-15 bewitchment. I am trying to get him over to the Winchester Model 70 Cult pretty hard! But a Marine he is and he can shoot! Almost as good as me!

fj4e,

Looks like a fun time. Thats my kind of golf.

Well, just remind Matt that Carlos Hathcock worked his "magic" with a Model 70.

Oh I regularly do. And he saw what mine can do the other day. We were up at the same pit and we put out about 6-8 milk jugs at 500 yards. We were shooting them with both my 300 WSM and my 30-06 (both are Win 70's to those who don't already know) with boring regularity.

Yeah a Model 70 30-06 is about the best choice one could ask for in just about any case except for maybe dinosaur hunting. Even then, you could poke his eyes out and retreat if you couldnt kill him with it...although these Nosler bullets sure do dive deep! Even in an "old 30-06" like I use.
