Wow - some GREAT hunts planned here guys. Once again I'm really looking forward to seeing the phoots and reading the stories!

Hope to have lots of "phoots" (and photos, too).

Had to pull your leg on that one, Guy.

I'll make a more concentrated stab at ducks this year as well as my usual grouse and ptarmigan hunting.

New for me this year will be archery whitetail in TN and possibly archery blacktail deer on Kodiak if the schedules and piggybank line up.

Should be a busy, busy fall....just like I like it.

Have you ever duck hunted in the Aleutians? I'm going to Kodiak next year deer and caribou hunting with some buddies I duck hunt with and have been reading about the Eider and Harlequin hunts on Adak and other places. It would be cool to do a caribou/duck/ptarmigan combo hunt on Adak some day.

I like busy too but big game season never seems to last long enough.

Did you draw a cow or a bull tag in WY Scotty?

Cow, could have gotten a bull tag this year, but I'm just going to add another point right now. I can't do anything with horns right now, so I'll put the bull hunt off another year.

I just started accumulating points last year for WY and this year for UT so I have a few years before I'll apply for a bull but I might put in for a cow over there next year. In UT your license is good for 365 days and you can apply later (around March 17 versus March 3rd) if all you apply for is bonus points. So I can use the same license next year to put in for bonus points. That saves a few bucks next year. But since I already had to buy a license this year I'll put in for cow elk down there and that makes the tag cheap. My hunting buddy's brother has in-laws over in WY with a large ranch so I'm trying to work a bull elk hunt out of him  . We will probably have to drag him along hunting here in Idaho a few times before he will take me over there. The only bull he's ever shot was about a 320-330" 6 point off that ranch a couple years ago.

We have applied for controlled hunts for central Oregon buck late in September. Cow elk that runs from end of Nov to the end of March. Then I applied for one each of the new Premium hunts for deer and elk.

If I don't draw any of these controlled hunts, then it will be OTC for deer and elk probably on the coast range here in OR.

I've never duck hunted in the Aleutians. I did spend 3 years out in the Chain on Shemya...but no hunting allowed :( .

I will likely pack a shotgun to Kodiak and try some sea duck hunting while I'm there.

My Wife, oldest daughter and I applied for 2nd season Mule deer in Colorado, unit 551.
Will be going to scout in mid - late Sept and if the Elk looks promising might buy OTC Bull tags. I have lived in Utah for almost 5 years and have never bought or applied for anything.. I don't like to have to bring my own tree to sit under.. I should try for Mule deer on the San Rafeal swell.. Nice bucks if you can find them in those canyons along the river..

It looks like I've got 2 things on tap this fall -- chasing whitetail around with my daughter, and crawling around the high places of northern Idaho looking for a Mountain Goat. (I found out this morning that I drew the single Mountain Goat Tag in the northernmost unit of Idaho.)

Lady luck shined on you. That's pretty good when 43 residents and 3 non-residents put in and you drew it. We expect to see pictures and hear the story come fall. I'm going to put in for goat or sheep next year if I draw deer this year.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited. Have been putting in for this hunt for a number of years and was all primed to be disappointed (AGAIN) when typing in my info for the draw results this AM. I had to do a double and triple take on the computer screen before it sank in.
