I'm thinking about selling a Ruger 10/22 rifle online. I know it has to be shipped to a FFL Holder.
When you guys sell a rifle what do you ship it in?
Anywhere to buy boxes ?

Your dealer probably throws lots of gun boxes away every week. That's where I get mine. Make sure you use an overpack box over the original rifle box. That's how the manufacturers mail them out.

You know I didn't even think about that.I will give them a call tomorrow.I've got a Ruger 10/22 Carbine that has the SS Hammer Forged Barrel that I bought new back in 1997 and I've not shot it 200-300 times, and thought about trying to sell it online.

Cheap hardcase inside a cardboard box. Regardless what you ship it in, insure it accordingly...

The first reply is right on. An origional box of any manufactor plus the sleeve over box. Or If I ship a expensive rifle I will buy a cheap single rifle polyethelene case like MTM makes (10 or 12 bucks on sale) with built in foam padding and just provide it grattis (free) for my piece of mind. Add 10 bucks to your minimum price and include the case in the add and it will help you sell the rifle. As light as a 10-22 is cardboard would be sufficient.

Here are a couple of pic's of it.

In retirement, I maintain my FFL and ship an average of three rifles per week. U-Line Inc. sells a good box, called "Tall Box". It is 6"X6"X48", which can handle about any long rifle or shotgun.
If scoped, I remove the scope and pack it well, inside a smaller box, with styrofoam peanuts. The scope box can be taped to the barrel end of the peice.
I wrap the rifle in heavy, corrugated cardboard and tape it snug. Then slide the wrapped rifle into the Tall Box and fill with as many "peanuts" as I can get to go around the wrapped rifle. Do the peanut fill from both ends. Then, pack a few layers of corrugated cardboard at either end, to cushion the muzzle and the butt of the piece.
In some instances, the piece can be "taken-down" to pack.
Using this procedure, I have never had a firearm damaged in transit. I have found that when a piece can "rattle" inside the box, it can be damaged, so pack it snug.

That is what I do.

I can't decide if I want to sell it or not.

I can understand your indecision.

Well I made the mistake of pricing it this evening to a friend of mine for $400. He pulled out 4 $100 bills and I couldn't back out :( :( But I just didn't shot it,so I'll just order some more reloading supplies for the guns I do use.I've also got a Ruger MK II SS pistol with a 10 inch bull barrel, and he tried to get me to price it also, but I wasn't about to make that mistake
