What gr. accubond in 300wsm.

Welcome to the forum.

Either will work but my pick would be the 165 gr AB. You will get better down range performance due to the higher BC and less meat destruction with the heavier bullet.

150gr AB will flat smoke a whitetail. 165gr will give you a little more versitility if you want ot go for something bigger.

180's are what I shoot in my 300WM and 300WSM and same for my hunting buddies with the same calibers. Great bullet. Longest shot for me was in 2004 and took a 8x7 whitetail @ 554 metres 1 shot double lung pass thru. Shortest shot was 44m at a NT Mulie about an hour before I took the whitetail on the last day of the season....2 Bucks an Hour...lol

180 AB's are the bullet for the 300WM and 300WSM IMO. We use same bullet for all our hunting...Moose, elk, bear, deer. 165's will get you more velocity.

I prefer the 1 gun 1 load method. 180 at 3050 for every big game situation..

Pop, that fits my dad rule for bullet selection:

The heaviest bullet you can throw above 3000 fpt.
My adendum to the rule it he heaviest AccuBond you can throw over 3000 fps.

I was that way back in 1998 when I bought my first new rifle and my good hunting buddy bought the same - Sako m75ss 300WM. We shot at that time the Winchester Supreme 180gr Partition Golds. Thought only needed one rifle for all big game in Alberta.........

...Then I seen the LIGHT!!! in 2004. Started buying more rifles...2 Tikka T3 LS 270WSM's, then more Sako m75ss and Greyolf rifles started coming. Started to reload as of 2005 for my rifles.

I agree with one rifle / 1 bullet size /load for each caliber.

Try a few bullets and loads and find out what performs the best at the range and on the big game...then stick to one.

I follow that method as well, but being a Boy Scout, I'm always prepared. For most of my rifles, I will develope a load for at least 2 bullets, one of them is the primary. For instance, my 338RUM will use primarily 250AB, but I'm working up a load for the 225AB and I found a load for the new 200ET while finishing up the 250AB developement. My 7mmRUM is the same. primary is 150ET, secondary is 160AB.
