Was just mulling over the different guns & bows I've hunted with over the years. I'd bet that some of you guys have used a lot more different things than I have. And, there might be somebody who mostly, or entirely, just uses one gun...

Ben Pearson 45# recurve
Browning 53# recurve
Hoyt 53# recurve (same bow since the 1970's for me)
PSE compound

22 Ruger Mk III pistol
.38 Colt Bisley (yes, Dad let me hunt with it when I was a young fellow!)
.357 Mag revolvers, Colt and S&W
.44 mag revolvers, Ruger and S&W
.45 ACP - "hunting" might be a stretch, but I killed a few deer with it, and used it predator hunting too

17 HMR CZ rifle
204 Ruger CZ rifle
22 Marlin 39m, Marlin 39a
5.56 AR-15 (again not a lot of hunting, killed some deer, hunted some coyotes)
6mm Remington 700 BDL (since 1974)
25-06 Remington 700 CDL
7mm Rem Mag (several)
30-30 Glenfield and 30-30 Marlin 336
.308 Win Rem 700
30-06 Model of 1917
30-06 Rem 700 CDL
300 WSM Winchester Model 70
300 Win Mag - Ruger Number One, and Ruger M-77
375 H&H - Ruger Number One
45/70 Marlin 1895 (three different ones)
50 traditional Thompson-Center percussion muzzle loader

28 gauge Winchester Model 12 skeet
20 gauge Ithaca/SKB 200-E double
12 gauge Mossberg 500
12 gauge Beretta 390a
12 gauge Browning Citori O&U

I'm probably forgetting something... Had other rifles & handguns that came and went without ever being used for hunting. Some were never intended for hunting.

Mostly I tend to hunt deer & larger with my 25-06 and 30-06 Rem 700's. Birds are a pretty good mix between the Beretta 390 and the Browning Citori. The Beretta semi-auto gets used more in rougher conditions.

How 'bout you?

Guy

Someday I hope to be rich like you AND Gil and can afford more than three rifle's and a shotgun. And to be able to hunt somewhere besides Canada, so I can ad to my animals hunted list. BUT, I might have more dogs than you do (-;

he is not joking fellows

at least up this way we can hunt hare, squirrel, porcupine, grouse, ptarmigan

with a sling shot and/or BB gun and two of the five I have successfully hunted with both

I have sought diligently I feel to try to shoot and hunt with as many different rifles as possible in my lifetime. Unfortunately many of the opportunities to shoot unique or oddball guns came as a once in a lifetime deal with strings attached. Especially with the rifles, I’ve shot 5 or 6 times what is listed here but only hunted with/taken animals with what’s listed below.

Handguns -

Colt .22 Peacemaker
Ruger Single Six .22/.22 WMR
Ruger Mark III

Ruger GP-100 .357
Ruger Blackhawk .44
Ruger Vaquero .45

Shotgun -

JC Higgins 20 gauge (my first shotgun)
Remington 870 20 gauge

I am with Fotis, it's a healthy list of guns over the years.

Now, my stepdad, I'd bet he could count them all on one hand...

I can say that I have hunted with many different rifles and shotguns but my 2 most memorable were my first 2 shot guns which were a 12 gauge Cooey Single shot and a Marlin 10 gauge bolt action.
Every time I squeezed the trigger I told myself never again but I kept them for the first 3 or 4 years I hunted waterfowl .

Blessings,
Dan
