Ok, so now I got a 1x-32 scope on my T/C Encore 209/50. I have it sighted in at 1 inch high at a hundred yards. Using 2 50 gr 777 pellets and a 250gr Shock wave spire point sabot. My question is: what is the best for shots from 80 ydrs to 150.....do I need to leave it alone....go more than an 1 inch high or am I too high. Just thought you guys may be able to save me some bullets and pellets. I am new to muzzleloading......thanks

mbmm,

I would think 1 inch high at 100 yds will give you point plank to 150 yds.
But to run the numbers, try here-
http://www.biggameinfo.com/

Go to Ballistic Calculator and then advanced Ballistic calulator.
Plug in your data and you will get a drop chart.

My guess would be that you would have to be 2"-2.5" high @ 100yds. ML drop like rocks past 75yds.

I ran the numbers using the .451 cal 260 gr PT @ 1900 pfs just to give you an idea.

Max Point blank range is 169 yds when zeroed at 145 yds. Current Zero is 118 yds.

Range yds Path in Velocity fps Energy ft/lbs Opt Game Wgt lbs
Muzzle -1.5 1900 2084 696
25 0.2 1889 1848 581
50 1.3 1683 1635 483
75 1.6 1581 1444 401
100 1.0 1485 1273 332
125 -0.6 1395 1123 275
150 -3.3 1312 993 229
175 -7.2 1236 882 192
200 -12.6 1168 788 162
225 -19.6 1110 712 139
250 -28.3 1062 651 121

Hope this helps.

Wow, that did help....thanks so much for the effort...

Keep in mind that the Shock Wave has a higher BC so it will shoot flatter.
I shot a big WT doe last year at a lasered 167 yds. The .451 cal 260 gr PT took out the top of the pump station and both lungs, leaving an exit wound about the size of a quarter. The doe ran about 40 yds and piled up.

Stumbled across this post when surfing...This ballistics Calculator looks like a great tool, but I am stuggling to find info on the BC for my bullets. I am using T/C Shockwave SuperGlide 250 grain/50 Cal. Does anyone know the BC for this bullet so I can get the right calculations?
Thanks.
