What would cause this?

On another forum I saw pictures of some strange split in the belt section of 458 Lott handloads. Here a link that shows pictures. What would cause this?

He siad that the reloads were 6 years old. They wer emade with virgin brass. And that he has shot alot of rounds thriough the same rifle without this happening. Opinions?

I'm going with defective brass or some sort of debris in the chamber that cut the brass when it was chambered, enough that the ignition and resultant pressure blew it out right there. There's almost no way that's a headspace issue, because it's longitudinal, not perpendicular to the axis of the case. I'd be checking that gun and those loads over very carefully.

My guess is that the brass used to make those cases had laminations in the metal. From my experience with deep draw metals defective metal and in particular laminations are all too common.
