Nice collection! IS that Georgia Jim wood on the Encore hand gun?

Real nice collection. Makes my one Contender 7x30 Waters seem pretty humble even with the Georgia Jim furniture.

Several rifles & handguns, useful for game from sage-rats to mastadons should the need arise. However, mostly I hunt mule deer, with an occasional varmint or predator hunt thrown in and now and again a hunt for elk or bear.

The most used center fire rifle in recent years, a .25-06 700 CDL with a 6x scope:

Favorite though is a Marlin 39A:

I feel truly blessed to have several rifles. Most of my life I had a .22 and one center-fire, sometimes two. Only in the past 10 - 15 years or so have I been able to acquire a few others. It's nice to have some specialty rifles instead of making a .30-06 do for everything from varmints to elk, although it certainly can.

Regards, Guy

JD, the wood is from Boyd's. The forend is the heavy barrel rifle, and I have the "standard" as well. The grip I modified to fit me better with a dremel, by adding the finger grooves and deeping the web area as well the thumb rest. Then finished with tung oil.

The rifles in the above photo are the only centerfire Rifles I currently have. Top is a DPMS Panther Bull 20, center is a Remington Model 700 SPS .308 and the near one is a Bushmaster 16" M4 Optics Ready Carbine.

I shoot way more Rimfire Rounds per year than anything else, and yes I do hunt small varmints with my Rimfires.

CustomRuger7722-1.jpg

Above is my pride and joy. It is a Custom Ruger 77/22 that I put together myself. I used a Clark Custom Guns 20" Stainless-Steel Bull Barrel and Volquartsen Laminated Wood Stock that I have modified from it's original form. Truth be known I have recently did some more reshaping to this stock and my nephew currently has it putting a finish on it.

RugerK7722VBZ.jpg

This is the very first Ruger 77/22 I ever bought, a K77/22VBZ. It had horrible barrel droop and a horrible barrel shank to receiver fit so I ended up shimming the barrel. I had sold this Ruger and recently was able to purchase it back. Since then I have had the barrel cut and recrowned at 20".

CustomAR-22.jpg

This one was quite a project. I bought a used 10/22 for $100.00 and the guy said he didn't even know if it shot or not. After a lot of cleaning I test fired it. I was pleased so the modifications began. It is set in a Nordic Components AR-22 Receiver Chassis with an AR-15 6 Position Collapsable Buttstock, Pistol Grip and Free Float Tube. It wears the factory Barrel that I had cut and crowned at 17" and installed a Green Mountain Barrel Shroud to give it the look of a bull barrel without the weight.

RugerMKIII2245.jpg

Above is my favorite packin pistol. It is a Ruger MKIII 22/45 with a 4" Bull Barrel. I had the rounded portions of the grip milled off and installed 1911 Grip Screw Bushings with Hogue 1911 Grips. It has a Volquartsen Custom Target Sear, Clark Custom Guns Steel Ruger Trigger (added since this photo was taken) and a HiViz Fiber Optic Front Sight.

RugerMKIIFastFire.jpg

Last but not least is a very, very special Ruger MKII. This one is special as it belonged to my late brother. To make it more special I have added the following, Burris Fast Fire in the Burris Mount, Clark Custom Guns Steel Ruger Trigger, Volquartsen Custom Target Sear, Extended Bolt Release and Volthane Target Grips and an On Target Guns Blast Shield.

For daily concealed carry I acquired a Kel-Tec P-11 9mm a few months back. I do not have a photo of it but I have been shooting the heck out of it. So far in all the rounds I have fired through it I have had one stovepipe. I have even purposely mixed different brands, types and bullet weights of ammo in the same mag and have still only experienced one stovepipe. This little gun is a joy to shoot and actually shoots much better than I ever thought it would.

you must be one hell of a shot not one repeater in the buch

I know some that are better
It's not so much my ability, but how I go about it.
First off, I'm right handed and left eye dominate, that and I started out with single shot .22. When it came to getting my first "high power" rifle, there wasn't alot to choose from in left hand bolts, other than the .30-06, 7mm Mag., and the .270. I decided on a custom built Ruger #1. in a .30-404. Later had a .30-74R, and a few .280 AI's made.
I did get a Rem. 742 in a .30-06, and used it one season on deer, but sold it after I realized I didn't need it's capability. I just decided to stay with single shots, and the TC Encore makes that rather easy.
I do play at long range on paper and "diggers", but prefer to hunt big game within a comfort zone. I determine that by practicing on various size steel gongs, depending the size of the animal. For deer I use a 5" gong, or roughly 1/2 the size of the intended animals kill zone, and set up for PBR, backing up and shoot from different field positions. When I can no longer put 3 consecutive shots on the gong, the last distance is my personal limit to range with that set-up. The 1/2 size gongs, give me some margin for error, and "murphy's law".
When hunting, I work to within that comfort range, and if I can't, I pass.

,,,,,Some nice fireams being posted here!!!!!

Jake,

Some nice looking muleys there. That arsenal will do for whatever you want to hunt.

Thanks. They sure don't some easy. Both of those bucks were last weekend bucks. I passed on the one with the 375R onpening day because I had seen a really nice 26" heavy muley hanging out in the area, but after a week and a half of looking, I had to get back to school.

There are a couple more, like some of my other shotguns, my 22 Mag, Savage 22-250, wifes 308, sons 243, but that is the bulk of them, tons of overlap, and not a 30-06 in the bunch! Still growing though. Scotty
