Since I'll be scouting Idaho/Washington for somewhere to move to after the elk and deer hunt near Stanley/challis I was wondering if there were any hot spots for white tail or mule deer anyone knows about. The deer hunting is hit and miss where I'll be depending on fire and weather so I could hold on to my tag and use it up north as I search the Idaho Washington direction. I've always wanted a nice white tail buck but never actually hunted them.

OK wildgene. I found the river where it enters Idaho from Canada by Hwy 95. It flows South to the Kooteni River. The country looks great on the map. Any particular area there or just follow 95 and head up the side roads and walk it out?
Thanks
Greg

...depending on dates & weather, start from the East, up Deer Cr. (ridge between Keno & Faro Cr. might be a good start) to Canuck Basin, working farther west, over to Deer Ridge & the river. You should find lots of tracks, see plenty of deer, especially if you've got some snow. Stop in @ Fiest Cr. for a burger, there's a trailhead (Synder)a mi. S., but it probably better to access it from above off the Deer Ridge, Canuck rds. Watch your map, a 1/2 mi. E. of Canuck Pass you're actually in Montana, untill you get down below the switchback. Work to the W., Hall Mt. W. side of Queens..

When I lived at Twin Falls, I hunted Deer in the South Hills. I hunted Elk in the Sawtooth, as both were relatively close.
