I am thinking of getting a new seating die for my 7mm WSM, the 2 that i am looking at are the Forster Ultra 2-die set with seater and full length sizing die for $95.00 or the Redding Competition seater die only for $119.00, which way would be the better way to go to get more consistent loads that will be the same length, or should i just not worry about it and keep using my regular Redding dies and just try to get them as close a possible for each round that i load.

Are you measuring to the bullet tip or the ogive. I believe that inconsistent length is caused by the variation in bullets and cases as well as any variances in technique you may have from round to round, especially if you are using compressed charges. So long as your dies are locked down you should be getting consistent seating depth on your ogives which is what matters. Never used them but I believe the advantage to comp. seating dies is the ability to make minute and repeatable changes to seating depth between batches of handloads. If you have money to burn, I'd go redding. I love their ergonomics and consistency and I'd imagine their comp. dies are no different.

I would get the Forster ultra seater. Polish the expander ball in your current die set and use a dry lube in the neck.Rick.
