I was just cleaning my buddy's rifle today, an older Japanese (Howa) made MK V action, and I noticed that the action looks like it was machine from a solid stock. According to Weatherby, the newer MK V action that were made in the US were forged. I'm not sure about the Germans since I 've never seen one up close but from what I've heard, the steel is even better and the machining is superb. So for those who knows a bit about metalurgy, which MK V is stronger? not that it matters.... just curious! :?

US made, it has to do with the process that is now employed by Weatherby.

You can go to Weahterby Rifles Forum and post you thread and ask for BigHorn to explain it to you.

Mark V's were made in Germany, then Japan and now the US.
