Which rifle should I get? Looking at a new WSM

Looking at a WSM, only have around $650, I have found a browning abolt with a 26" tube and looking at a model 700 SPS, like the light weight of the browning, but have never had a browning rifle. I have always liked the 700. The 700 seems to be limited by action length and magazine length, but not quite sure, what's your thoughts. If I could afford it I would get a model 70, can't seem to find one. Scotty has a sweet 300 or did have but I have all the 270 wsm stuff. Thanks for the replies

Go for the Browning; it will serve you quite well. Browning makes a good product. The new Remingtons are a crap shoot. Magazine length is essentially equivalent in each of these rifles, but I do believe you'll get better service out of the Browning.

Yeah, the Browning seems like a better deal to me. Buying a new Remington doesn't feel like a good investment after my last one.

I do like the longer mag box of the Winchester though. Really allows a lot of options for different bullets.

Good luck on your buy. I love my 270WSM. Just a great round.

I'd take the Browning in a heartbeat over a SPS.

I think a 26" tube on a short action is a bit like lipstick on a pig...but talk about maximum efficiency in a cartridge.

I think it would give excellent service. Are you getting a .300 or .270WSM?

thanks guys, i think i will jump on the browning first thing in the morning, hodge im going with a 270 wsm! I have one right now, just trying to sell it. I love it but looking for a lighter gun.

I found a M70 Featherweight 270wsm on GB last month for $500. Be patient and you will be rewarded! It has great balance and will carry well.

Good luck. Take some pictures of the new one!

That is a couple of great buys, Fotis. If they go that cheaply, someone will be getting a steal.

This is just me and my anti-.270 bias, but I would try and save a little more, and find some sort of M70 in 7WSM.

Nice, throw that is a quality stock and you have a very nice rifle.. Those are probably some of my favorites. Hated the stock, but in a good stock, along with the old style trigger, they are winners..

Yeah, man, drop that thing in a purple McSwirley, that'd be cool!
