Turns out FN makes both Browning and Winchester firearms. Considering how FN's been making work class Mauser actions since, forever, I hope this spells good things for the rebirth of Winchester.

I sure hope they are a better product than the brownings have become I am not crazy about FN and because I said I am not crazy about FN does not mean they do not put out a fair product.

It would be hard to be worse than the last of the previous production M70s. The one I bought at the news of the closing was HORIBBLE. The worst quality I have seen on any production rifle.

I hope that FN changes that. I also hope they make them in left hand versions! If the quality is there.............I would but one.

A couple of weeks or so ago, either on the "Guns and Ammo" TV show or on "American Rifleman" they had a rep from Winchester who explained the differences between the newest ones now being manufactured vs the older ones, including the last batch prior to the shut down about 2 years ago........With the many changes, the newest ones are suppose to be the best Model 70`s ever produced!

.........My very first rifle @ 10 yrs. old was a M70 `06!.....My dad said, "here ya go"........... :lol:

FN was building the old ones. They closed the old plant and the "new" rifles are being assembled in a new plant they built before shutting the old. They have been building M70s as a Sniper rifle since 2004 in SC at this newer plant. All they stopped was civilian production.
