I asked this another way once before and JD338 responded but I am extremely curious.

First I do realize that not all accubonds have a ballistic tipped twin but the vast majority do.

So why isnt the 257 AccuBond matched up with the 115 or the 100?

I got to thinking about this after running the numbers and seeing that the 115 is ballistically superior to the 110 hitting harder and flying flatter at extended ranges (all be it farther than I need to be shooting but still)

anyone know

Good Question -
The 6.5's are in the same situation -

I'll throw my guestimate into the pot here -
A lot of the earlier .257 Bee had barrels with a twist rate that would not stabalize the heavier bullets. Potentially from a marketing stand point I'm sure Nosler knows which weights they sell the most in -
A slight compromise and wala ??????????

The 115 gr BT and the 110 gr AB are long bullets for .257 cal. If you get much longer, they wont stabilize in standard 1;10 twist barrels.

The AB has a much thicker jacket than the BT so with a similar length to the 115 gr BT it ends up being a little lighter because it has less lead core.

Many shooters still shoot 110 grain bullets in the .257 Roberts and even the .250 Savage. Both of these cartridges are normally found in rifles with 1 in 12 twist barrels. The 110 bullet is the maximum bullet that these cartridges can stabilize with the lower velocity and slower twist.

My .25-06 would shoot the 115 grain Partitions with very good accuracy but my .257 Roberts would not yield good results with the 115 gr bullets.

As an FYI, my M700 Classic 257 Roberts has a 1:10" twist and shoots both the 115 gr BT and 115 gr PT under .7" at 100 yds. FWIW, the 100 gr BT and PT shoot in the .5".

So is the BC of the 110ab the same as the 115 BT?

the 257 110 gr AB has a BC of .418, the 115 gr BT is .453.

the 257 110 gr AB has a BC of .418, the 115 gr BT is .453

is that only due to weight difference?

are they identical externally?

more copper/less lead.... makes sense, but makes me wonder if they're idential on the outside.

The OAL si close but not exact. As already stated, the AB has a much thicker jacket than the BT.
