Why no RUMS in the Ruger #1?

Seems to me it would be the perfect platform no?
Lots of power in a short rifle.
 
Or, alternately, a 28" barrel in a package that's not crazy long...
 
Exactly ! You can go with a 29" tube and still be withing sendero length
 
Have you taken a look at Ruger's greatly diminished lineup of Number One rifles?

Very few cartridges being offered. They've also said they're only going to be offering 5 cartridges per year for a while. If I read that correctly. I suspect they're mostly going to be offering various "classic" cartridges in the Number One.

But... your thought makes sense, and I think it would be simple for a good gunsmith to turn a Number One into a .300 Rem Ultra Mag. Heck, almost every other cartridge has been done on that excellent falling block action!

I too am surprised that the No 1 is not offered in the RUMs.
