Why People Shoot, Shovel and Shut Up

That is just a great example of the pure stupidity the Federal government exudes!! I think he eventually gets the charges dropped due to the amount of support or he doesn't get convicted if it does go to trial!

Typical government, they just don't get it!

Maybe this isn't much, but if we could figure out the Court address and/or e-mail I think we could get a bunch of us Nosler folks to send a letter, a card, a phone call or whatever it takes in support of this guy. Keep putting pressure on the court and the prosecution and possibly they will see the error of their ways and if nothing else, they will know a whole bunch of us out here feel that there needs to be more common sense in circumstances like this then what is apparently shown here. I'll do a little checking tomorrow and see what I might find unless someone else has the information right of the bat. We can talk among ourselves, but that's like preaching to the choir isn't it Dr. Mike!  I feel as sportsman often times we do complain among ourselves and our fellow hunters while the other side is very vocal and they make certain their voices are heard. I think it's way past time we make our voices heard also! I'm in for it.

Found this under comments section after the article if someone, anyone cares to donate to his defense. I know money is tight for all but even just a couple bucks times a thousand of us adds up. You don't even have to mail it, if you have a local Wells Faro bank go there and give his name and tell them it's for the Wells Fargo in Bonners Ferry Idaho.

A couple of excellent suggestions, David. Hopefully, you'll be able to secure an Email address. Heck, even Canadians can send in a note, especially those who are ex-pats and who still vote in elections.

That would be great. I just think it's important to keep our responses respectful and polite or we lose any credibility and end up looking like the fanatical folks who are so feverishly defending the wolves and don't feel they should be managed. Just my thoughts.

It s a shame when law enforcement feels that they have to distort facts and get a drunken witness to lie for them when they already have all of the evidence that they need. This never should have been blown out of proportion like this and should just be ruled property defense. It really tarnishes the image of law enforcement when they lie and distort witness testimony. There is no reason that this should have been manipulated this way by the LEO's. No wonder their image is tarnished when they lie and corrupt testimony with no reason to.

Marc Lyons is the attorney for Jeremy Hill on this case. I tracked him down and sent him an e-mail and this is his response. At the bottom is an e-mail address so folks can write a quick line with their support for Jeremy in a respectful manner. I don't think it could hurt. He also included the bank account information should anyone want to drop a couple bucks. Thanks
David

Thank you for your interest in Jeremy Hill’s defense of the US government’s charges. you have raised a good point about knowing whether the defense assistance accounts are legitimate. We are not directly connected to the efforts, but it is my understanding that bank accounts have been set up to assist in covering costs associated with Jeremy’s defense. A CPA in Bonners Ferry, Idaho is supervising the accounts. Contributions can be made out to "Jeremy Hill Benefit Account" and deposited in the accounts at three banks. The accounts were set up at the following locations:

Wells Fargo Bank
PO Box 1509
Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805

Mountain West Bank
PO Box 59
Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805

Panhandle State Bank
PO Box 1479
Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805

Interested people should also be able to go to any Wells Fargo Bank, Mountain West Bank, Panhandle State Bank, Intermountain Community Bank, or Magic Valley Bank (Intermountain and Magic Valley are part of Panhandle) branch and tell them the account is held at the Bonners Ferry, Idaho branch.

Thank you for your support.

David,

Thank you for doing yeoman duty on this matter. I will shortly be drafting a missive of support for Jeremy Hill to forward to his attorney. I do trust that others from this forum will join in this effort.

FOLKS PLEASE DON'T SEND E-MAILS TO THIS SITE. MARC NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE, BUT HE DID NOT WANT HIS E-MAIL PLUGGED, SO PLEASE DON'T SEND ANY UNTIL HE GETS US AN E-MAIL ADDRESS WE CAN USE. WE DON'T WANT TO MAKE IT HARD FOR HIM. REMEMBER HE'S ON OUR SIDE! THANKS
David

I put it for folks to send words of Encouragemt already Marc, but I'll quickly send a response to please not do so. Where can we send messages? Most folks would rather do an email then mail something.

I picked up on that right away and my own missive is on hold.

there was another story in the paper here recently where a couple of guys were hunitng in the montana idaho area. a grizzly killed one of them and the survivor shot the grizzly and killed it. now the government is deciding whether on not to press charges. does it get any worse than that? you can goggle it in the billings gazzette to read more.

If you dig a little deeper you will see they shot and wounded a grizzly, It went into heavy brush and they pursued it.
That's when his buddy was attacked and killed.
They were hunting black bear and shot/wounded a grizzly instead.
Now they are trying to decide if he will be charged for shooting a grizzly in the first place not the self defense part.

Thanks for the update, if that is in fact what went down he will be needing a lawyer, I would be totally surprised if montanas fwp did not pursue it regardless of the situation.

Here in AZ we seem to have a jaguar or two running around. naturally they'e on the endangered species list. One was caught and tagged by Game & Fish, had problems was caught aging, treated and released but later died. The game & Fish people involved are being prosecuted by the feds.
Since that incident, another jaguar has been seen and photographed. Of course by law we have to leave it alone. I get the sense by the remarks in the newspaper that should one be hiking in the desert and said jaguar decided you wee dinner, that if you killed it in self defense with the tooth and claw marks to back you up, that you would still be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. That is if you survived.
JMHO, but I think "Big Brother" is getting way out of line when some critter that is dangerous to humans is more important than human life. :x
