Win M70 25-06 Sporter

Awesome Scotty, very happy for you!

These Winnies are shooters for sure. I believe they meet the MOA criteria before they ship.

I think if I was to buy another lever gun, today it would be hard to pass up a nice 35 Rem or a 444 Marlin. Those are two that seem to hold my interest.

Pop, I am not sure about the MOA deal with Winchester, it might be only their Extreme Weather rifle? Don't know, I am taking a chance of this rifle not shooting well, but then again, since it is a M70, I will have a little less heartache and the rifle is cheaper than the CDL was to start with. Scotty

Scotty I cannot wait to see the new rifle and how it performs. Good luck with that and also on the snowhoes. Did you cave on those?

Still looking at snowshoes. There isn't much snow here yet, so I am not getting to amped just yet. Once the snow starts to fly, I will be more apt to go and get them. Plus, I have a scope to pay for first. Scotty

Have you ever considered a Henry Big Boy in 44 Rem Mag or 45 Long Colt?

If I were forced to run a Wood/Blued .25-06... God forbid... seriously... I would no doubt get a Ruger M77. Anyone who's ever owned one... knows how cool those really are. I've had about half a dozen of them... tang safetys... MkIIs... even an old M77 varmint that was sweet. You get the 24" blued barrel... three position safety... they ain't as purdy as a Winny... but they're cooler... they're the Fonzie of Rifles... heeeeeyyy!

Jim, never really considered a Henry rifle before. I have seen a few of them, but then again, I have looked at the Marlin 1894's, but they really have no practical use for me. I am all about getting more rifles, but I can't think where a 44 would be better or fit something I have a gap in. Maybe as a companion rifle for my Super Blackhawk or something??

Thanks for the heads up on the snow shoes. Still looking. I am also looking for something to replace my heavy Savage 22-250. Like you, I am kinda tired of toting it around.

SongDog, I like Rugers alot also. They are actually a very close runner up to Winchester in my eyes. ALL of my Rugers are great shooters and very rugged rifles. They might weigh a little more than average, but they seem as strong as a tank! Scotty

Scotty, good luck with the Win 70 in .25-06!

Dare I say that I've had really good results with .308 and a .300 WSM Model 70's? I've also had a .25-06, and a .300 Win mag that didn't shoot worth a hoot. The .25-06 was a drop-dead gorgeous rifle with wonderful wood and deep blue, but grouped like a dad-gum shotgun. There was a 7mm Rem mag Model 70 that wasn't bad, but not great either. I think it had potential, but I got rid of it before I knew for sure... The .308 stayed with me for a number of years, and I was lucky enough to get the .300 WSM back after selling it once while chasing prettier rifles.

I have been very lucky so far with Winchesters, so much so, I have never had an issue and my 270WSM is just about as accurate as I need any rifle to ever be and it is dead stock, with just the trigger lightened. Plus, it all comes down to what the shooter wants, and I just like the M70's more. Nothing really glaring or over the top, just like them. I do like others like Browning, Ruger and even Remington, but I prefer Winchester in my big game bolt guns. Scotty

I had to edit this after seeing the Nosler Legacy, those look like they could become a favorite also! Scotty
