I alsmost bought a used one at the gun show that had a brand new Leopold VXII on it for $700. Is that a good deal for the rifle and scope?

Rifle is used .270, and is in okay shape.

Corey

Well, the scope typically goes for about $225. Rings and mounts are another $50.00.

$425 for the rifle. Anything else, sling, dies, ect would just add to the value of the deal. In other words, it not a bad deal, and would be a very good general purpose rig. In addition we have LOTS of load data for the .270 in the Forum.

I think it also makes a difference whether it's a push feed or CRF action. I think $425 for a push feed is OK, but a pretty good deal for a CRF. And it's a screaming deal on a pre-'64.

Jump on it. Some of the push feeds were real shooters. I had a 280 Featherweight in push feed that I should have never let go. My CRF that I replaced it with has turned out fine, but the other was a fine rifle.

Thanks for the advise but I ended up buying a brand new Tikka T3 stainless that weighs a half pound less.

Corey

The T3 is a fine rifle. I have shot several, and all shot better than they should. I'm certain you'll enjoy it.

Thanks, hopefully I will be able to load some for it this week and shoot it.

Tikka's are good rifles:

Here how My wife's Ttikka .270 Win shoots:

Here's the load:

140gr NBT
Win case
57gr H4831
CCI 200 primer.

It will shoot like that all day.

That is an excellent group, AS. Despite any temptation you may feel, just make certain you don't borrow her rifle to shoot those antelope.

Thanks Dr Mike.
She's pretty protective of that rifle. It has the deluxe stock, with the rosewood end cap (now discontinued). It's a very pretty gun.
